Forklift Impact Detection

Forklift driver safety

Forklift impact sensors enhance site safety and operator accountability by
raising awareness of an excessive impact. In any warehouse or production facility environment, using forklift trucks to move hundreds of pallets or other items comes with obvious risks. In addition to collision risks with obstacles and pedestrians, forklifts may suffer costly damage from excessive impacts.

The iTEch Standalone Forklift Impact Detection System will immediately alert the operator of impact events with two response levels:

  • Level 1 – the system detects impacts and triggers an audible and visual alarm, requiring a supervisor override to reset
  • Level 2 – triggers automatic truck shut down upon impact, requiring a supervisor override to reset

Our forklift impact sensors capture and log detailed collision data, including severity, duration and force across all three axes of the forklift truck.

How Our Forklift Impact Sensor System Works

The iTEch Standalone Impact Detection System is fitted to the main chassis of the forklift truck or other materials handling vehicles. The warning system monitors severe or unusual acceleration and deceleration. It will then store these events, keeping a count of them whilst logging telemetry about the severity of the impact.

This information is accessible via a USB connection. Outputs from the unit can be used to alert both the operator and nearby personnel that the forklift has suffered an excessive impact. This can be a combination of audible and visual warnings mounted on or in the cab.

Level 1 of the system detects impacts and triggers an alarm siren / flashing beacon, which requires supervisor override to reset. Level 2 offers an additional automatic truck shut down upon impact, requiring a supervisor override to reset.
